교황 베네딕도 16세는 새로 임명받은 주교들에게 과도한 정치 사회운동의 위험을 경고하면서 열심한 기도생활을 그 치료제로 권고하였다.
 
 9월 21일 120명의 새주교들에게 그 임무수행을 지원하고 바티칸의 업무와 친숙해 지게 하도록 한 회의에서 교황이 말씀한 것이다.
 
 이 자리에서 관할 사제들에게 언제나 경청하고 받아 주고 위로하고 때로는 교정해 주므로 써 사제들을 돌 보도록 교황은 요청하면서 교회의 보편적인 규범에 정한 바대로 관할 교구를 효과적으로 다스리라고 말씀했다.

 CULTIVATE PRAYER LIFE, NOT ACTIVISM, POPE TELLS BISHOPS
 Sep. 21 (CWNews.com) - Speaking to a group of newly appointed bishops, Pope Benedict XVI warned against "the danger of excessive activism," and recommended an active prayer life as the remedy.
 
 The Pope spoke on September 21 to a goup of 120 new bishops, who are attending a meeting in Rome organized by the Congregation for Bishops. The meeting is designed to help new bishops shoulder their new duties, and to make them acquainted with the workings of the Vatican.
 
 In his remarks, Pope Benedict asked the bishops to care for the needs of their priests, being ready "to listen, accept, comfort, and when necessary also correct." He then said that the bishops should govern their dioceses effectively, "in accordance with what is laid down by the universal discipline of the Church."
 
 "Serenity in relationships, delicacy in dealings with others, and simplicity of life are gifts that without doubt enrich the human personality of a bishop," the Holy Father continued. To cultivate
